Organized by the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club and the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey, the 2018-19 Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League Finals (Secondary Division) were held at Mega Ice on June 25, 2019.
Before commencement of the final game between Wah Yan College, Kowloon (WYKLN) and Po Leung Kuk No. 1 WH Cheung College (PLK No.1), Mr. Thomas Wu, Chairman of the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club; Mr. Barry Beck, General Manager (Coach) of the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey; Mr. Warren Chung Wai Leung, the Principal of WYKLN; Mr. Chau Chor Shing, the Principal of PLK No. 1; and the two team captains gathered for the puck-drop ceremony to kick-start the game.
Anthony Wong of Wah Yan College, Kowloon and Wong Ka Shing of Po Leung Kuk Tong Nai Kan Junior Secondary College were awarded the MVP of Division A and Division B in recognition of their outstanding efforts and excellence performance.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League. Ice hockey has become popular within the school community, and the passion for sport has spread to students over the years. We are delighted to see that many former ice hockey players graduated from schools have taken up their roles such as on-ice and off-ice officials and coaches to support their younger peers. We hope that through the Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League, more students would participate in ice hockey during which they could learn about teamwork and the never-give-up-spirit that are in line with our slogan “We Fall, We Stand Up STRONGER!”.
