In 2018, the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey (HKAIH) and the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club (HKAHC) are partnering with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIHA) to introduce diverse development programmes to optimize HKAIH current youth training system and upgrade the overall level of ice hockey including coaches, referees, game officials and players.

    SIHA Hockey Camp 2019

    SIHA Hockey Camp 2019, organized by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, in cooperation with the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey, is in the books!

    Swedish coaching specialists Stefan Bergkvist, Lotta Falkenbäck and Christian Yngve designed a set of Ice Program, Hockey Athleticism, Chalk Talk and specific Goalie Training for players from U8 to U16 during two-day intensive camp.

    2019 AYHL Wuhan Stop : The Kindling of our Ice Hockey Passion

    2019 Youth Hockey League (Asia Region) Wuhan Stop came to a fruitful conclusion on 14 December, 2019.

    During the event, ice hockey professionals including official and coaches from Sweden, Canada and Russia conducted on-ice master training, positive coaching workshops, and officiating training (theory + on ice practical), in the hope of enhancing game competitiveness and fostering multi-cultural exchange through up-to-date and professional training system and game theory.

    Former NHL player and General Manager (Coach) of HKAIH Mr. Barry Beck, renowned Russian coach Mr. Nikolaev Vladimir, together with Mr. Stefan Bergqvist from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, joined hand to conduct on-ice master training and bring in cross-cultural coaching elements to the youth players.

    Chief Executive of HKAIH Ms. Cecilia Hon and Mr. Barry Beck were invited to a sharing session on Positive Coaching at Maple Leaf International School-Wuhan. Through interactive presentation and Q&A session, parents and students were inspired about creating a more harmonious and loving growth atmosphere in the sport field.

    Referee-in-Chief of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association Mr. Joel Hansson also gave a comprehensive lecture to young referees during officials training workshop. Based on theory sharing and combined with on-ice practical session, participants gain deeper understanding of ice hockey game officiating.

    Swedish Ice Hockey Association conducting workshops in Hong Kong

    Since 2018, Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey has started the collaboration with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to raise the standard of ice hockey especially in youth holistic development & hockey industrialization in Hong Kong. (Read more: Hockey Beyond Hong Kong; Experience Sweden)

    The project has constantly driven the knowledge transfer between Sweden and Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey.

    Create-Clipping-Mask_43 Macau Ice Hockey Coaching Clinic & Youth Training Camp 2019

    With support from HKAIH & HKAHC staff, Swedish ice hockey personnel conducted workshops and practical sessions for current players, coaches, on-ice and off-ice officials in Hong Kong on September 12 to 22. Around 100 participants attended the courses and learnt from one of the top-notch hockey countries.

    During their visit, coaches and officials of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association also watched the local games played by Team HKAIH U8 AA, organized power skating and scrimmage training for Team AA Premier to improve their hockey IQ.

    Macau Ice Hockey Coaching Clinic & Youth Training Camp 2019

    Co-organized by the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey and the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club, "Macau Ice Hockey Coaching Clinic & Youth Training Camp 2019" was successfully completed in Macau on April 5-6, 2019.

    More than 100 players aged 8-12 and ice hockey coaches attended the training over the weekend. Not only had a team of Generation Next players opportunity to receive training from experienced Swedish coaches Mr. Stefan Bergkvist and Mr. Lars Lisspers in Macau, but also concluded the event with exciting friendly between players from Hong Kong and Macau.

    We look forward to more youth exchange activities through ice hockey in the future.

    The Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association joined hands to organize the first ice hockey forum at Mega Ice, MegaBox on April 3. While marking the first anniversary of cooperation, the panel shared their goals and exchange ideas with the participants.
