2016 – 17 Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League (Primary School) Successfully Completed
Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School Claims Victory in Division A

Under the sponsorship of Principal Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club organized the 2016-17 Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League (Primary School) and it was successfully completed at Mega Ice on 6 July 2017. Ice hockey fans that filled the seats brought endless levels of enthusiasm and passion.

Special congratulations to Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School (PLK LMC) and Sheng Kung Hui Kei Tak Primary School (SKH KT) for winning Division A and Division B Champions of the 2016-17 Hong School Ice Hockey League (Primary School), respectively. Edison Li of PLK LMC and Eric Lo of SKH KT were named the MVP of Division A and Division B in recognition of their outstanding efforts and excellence performance.

In championship game of Division A, PLK LMC is a three-time defending champion since 2013/14. This year, they won against Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School (PLK CKY) who made their debut to the final. While the goaltender of PLK CKY tried her very best to block the puck, PLK LMC frequently attacked their opposite team, leading two points ahead of PLK CKY at the end of the first period. Throughout the second period, the players of PLK CKY seemed to have difficulties in keeping up their fitness level and therefore gave their opponent to score another three goals. The final score was 5:0. In bronze medal match, Sheng Kung Hui Kowloon Bay Kei Lok Primary School defeated Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Primary School, with only two points ahead.

Prior to the final games, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club, Mr. Thomas Wu; the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey General Manager (Coach), Mr. Barry Beck; Chief Administrator of Anglican (Hong Kong) Primary Schools Council Limited, Mr. Tse Chang Keung; Principal Education Secretary of Po Leung Kuk Education Affairs Department (Primary and Special Education), Mr. Lau Chi Chung; Principal of Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School, Ms. Man Sze Wing; and the two team captains of Division A gathered for the puck drop ceremony.

In Division B, the gold medal match between Sheng Kung Hui Kei Fook Primary School (SKH KF) and SKH KT was very intense with both teams giving their best. SKH KT maintained the rhythm and defeated SKH KF 3:2 to become the winner of the 2016-17 Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League (Primary School) in Division B. Sheng Kuk Hui Tsing Yi Chu Yan Primary School came third.

The Year of 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey (HKAIH) since its establishment and the 8th Hong Kong School Ice Hockey League. Through the League, we are delighted to see many students getting involved in local and international ice hockey competitions. This year, five students from different primary schools joined HKAIH to participate in the “2017 Mega Ice Hockey 5’s”, thus allowing them to broaden horizons and to gain valuable international experience by playing against overseas teams. To match with our slogan “We fall, we stand up STRONGER!”, we hope that those students participating in the school league will be able to learn team spirit as well as to strengthen their minds and bodies through the sport of ice hockey.
