港冰球廿六年後 再奪世界錦標賽參賽資格

2013年5月16日,瑞典斯德哥爾摩 ─ 正於瑞典斯德哥爾摩舉行的國際冰球聯合會(IIHF)會議傳出好消息,香港將繼1987年後,再次獲得男子組世界冰球錦標賽參賽資格,以及首次獲得該賽事的女子組及男子18歲以下組別的參賽資格,重新踏足冰球的國際舞台。世界冰球聯合會副會長、香港冰球協會榮譽主席及香港業餘冰球會、香港冰球訓練學校主席胡文新先生表示:「經過香港本土整個冰球界的努力及總會的領導,香港終於打出頭來,打入世界賽,這真的是一個令人鼓舞的好消息,從此香港打入世界級冰球賽事,不再是遙不可及的事。香港下一階段應要進行本土培訓,總會和我都會全力以赴,向這目標再走進一步;希望港隊球員能以晉身決賽週為目標,努力訓練,為港爭光!」

香港自1983年成為國際冰聯的會員後,只曾於1987年參加過世界錦標賽,此後便沒有參加過任何國際錦標賽,因此未能取得世界排名,是國際冰聯54個成員中僅有其中7個沒有世界排名的城市/國家。冰球運動在香港冰球協會及會長葉小燕女士的推動下逐漸本地化,加上2007年香港冰球訓練學校成立,九龍灣MegaBox的MegaIce於同年落成;香港業餘冰球會又在2012年開始舉辦符合國際冰聯標準的聯賽,國際冰聯終於在今次瑞典斯德哥爾摩舉行的國際冰球聯合會(IIHF)會議通過讓香港重新參與世界錦標賽。

香港可以重投冰球國際舞台,令一眾本地年青運動員十分興奮。年僅18歲的香港冰球訓練學校學員梁海基說:「這是一個令人鼓舞的消息,日後參與冰球運動,我將可以放眼世界,有更遠大的目標。我一定會打好面前的比賽,爭取更多實戰經驗,為將來爭取入選港隊及未來的資格賽做好準備!」現役香港冰球代表隊成員黃彥羲表示:「以往參與不少亞洲區的賽事,經常夢想有朝一日能代表香港出戰世界冰球錦標賽,現在終有機會,我和隊友必會竭盡所能,為香港打好每一場比賽。」

國際冰球聯合會為保持國際賽事的水準,規定參與世界冰球錦標賽的地區及國家必須舉辦一個符合以下條件的聯賽,包括:60名註冊球員、15場60分鐘停鐘賽事以及合法衝撞要求。此外,該地區/國家還需要擁有一座符合國際冰球聯合會規格的標準室內冰球場;一套長遠的冰球發展計劃,包括冰球基礎訓練、教練、比賽工作人員及冰球球員的培訓等等。


Hong Kong is qualified to play in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Program after 26 years

(Stockholm, 16th May, 2013) –Hong Kong will re-set her foot on the stage of international ice hockey since 1987 after the annual congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF announced today in Stockholm that Hong Kong is qualified to play in the Senior Men Category of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Besides, Hong Kong also made her debut in the Senior Women and U18 Men Category. “With all the great effort and contribution from Hong Kong ice hockey community and Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association, Hong Kong finally obtained the chance to participate in the world-class tournament. I’m delighted about the news. From now on I will work tightly with the association and wish Hong Kong players will work hard and hopefully in the coming future they can get the ticket to the World Championship finals ,” said Mr. Thomas Wu, Vice President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, the Honorary President of Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association, Chairman of Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey and Hong Kong Amateur Ice Hockey Club.

Hong Kong has joined the IIHF as a full member since 1983 and participated in the IIHF World Championships Program only once in 1987. Among 54 members of IIHF, Hong Kong is one of the 7 teams without any world ranking. With the effort of HongKong Ice Hockey Association led by the Chairlady Ms. Yip Siu Yin; the establishment of Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey and the completion of the MegaIce in MegaBox in 2007; a league competition started in 2012 by the Hong Kong Amateur Ice Hockey Club enable Hong Kong to fulfill the minimum participation standard, IIHF finally has approved Hong Kong to regain her qualification for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Program during the annual congress here in Stockholm earlier this year.

Hong Kong players are excited about the news. “That’s great! Now I have a bigger goal for my ice hockey life - to represent Hong Kong competing in the international theatre.” said Leung Hoi Kei, a player of Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey. “I have represented Hong Kong in numerous Asian competitions. Participating in the World Championships Program is always my dream. I will work hard and dedicate myself to the sport of ice hockey.” said Wong Yin Hay, Hong Kong Ice Hockey team player.

To maintain the quality of the World Championship program, IIHF requires all federations qualified to the IIHF World Championship Program to organize a league with minimum 15 competitions; ‘60 registered players’; ‘60-minute stopped clock’ ;‘full checking’; one permanent artificial indoor ice rink meeting the standards as stated in the IIHF Rule Book including permanent seating capacity of not less than 500 spectators; a hockey development program which includes Coach Education Program, Game Official Program, Official Woman’s Development Program, etc.
